2 Ways To Get Rid Of Weeds In Your Yard
Posted on: 21 April 2017
No one likes to have a weedy yard. Weeds make your lovely grass look like you never put any time into making your yard look good. But, weeds seem to just happen and are hard to get rid of. What can you do to get rid of those weeds and get back to having a lovely, green, grassy yard?
Professionals
One thing you can do is to hire a professional landscaping company or lawn care company to come out to help you. They will treat your yard for weeds on a regular basis. You can't just do it once because weeds really like to propagate and will leave a lot of seeds around to try to grow more weeds. Having the pros come out regularly will mean that those weeds never have a chance to get a foothold again. If you do choose to go this route, you will have to stay off your lawn for at least the day of the treatment and maybe a day after, as well, depending on what kind of treatment the professionals have to use.
Herbicide
You can choose to use a herbicide yourself to try to get rid of the weeds. Before you do, you need to remember that a lot of herbicides you can access are non-specific, which means that they kill all kinds of vegetation, not just weeds. There are ways that you can get around that. One is to make sure that the applicator that you are using has a pinpoint capability. That way, you are only spraying the weed and not the grass around it. Making sure that you are also close to the weeds will help, since the spray will have less chance to spread. You can also choose to wear gloves, coat them in the herbicide, and then manually apply it to the weeds. If you do this, make sure that the gloves you wear are thick and are gloves that you wouldn't mind disposing of after you are done. This may not be the best solution if your yard has a lot of weeds because you would be spending a lot of time on your hands and knees to get to the weeds.
If you want to get back to your lovely grassy yard, then you need to figure out ways to handle the weeds. You can work to get rid of the weeds and hopefully keep them away. For more information, contact companies like ProTurf.
